SMA Warranty Conditions & SMA Extended Warranty

All relevant and up-to-date SMA warranty conditions and Extended Warranty order forms for SMA string inverter solutions can be found in the Download Area. We recommend to use the “Search” function for ease of access.

If you choose a SMA Warranty Extension, we provide prompt support at no cost depending on the country where the device is installed, even after our 5-year manufacturer's warranty expires.

Kindly note that SMA only offers the Warranty Extension ACTIVE in Middle East & Africa. Reference is made to the respective warranty conditions, primary and secondary support countries mentioned therein and inverter exchange procedures.

SMA Fault Finding and Inverter Exchange Procedure

In the rare event that an SMA device fails, we will do everything to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

  • 1. Always call our Service Line or E-Mail us to ensure logging your reported case and receiving a Service Ticket Number
  • 2. For New Cases kindly start with a New E-Mail (refrain from replying to an E-Mail for another case)
  • 3. Please refer to the Service Ticket Number provided when enquiring about any reported case

Our Service Line will then conduct a remote analysis of the faulty device or may require further data from you.

Please note: Faulty devices must still be connected & be part of the PV system during the diagnosis process. Please do not de-commission the inverter!

Having registered your PV system in SMA’s proprietary SUNNY PORTAL will greatly assist during the fault finding process. The SMA Service Line will establish whether an exchange is required. We kindly ask you to please wait until you receive the replacement unit before returning the defective device. This enables you to swap add-on components from the defective into the replacement unit.
