Thanks to SMA Home Energy Solution, you can also use your self-generated solar power to heat your home – for example, using a heat pump or heating element. The SMA Energy Solution convert electricity into hot water, taking the strain off your heating system. You can run the heating or the shower without burning oil or gas. It is clean, efficient and free.
Heat with solar power – during the day and at night
When you integrate your heating, you do not merely store the electricity but convert it into hot water. You can then use it to run the heating or the shower. That way, you will consume more self-generated solar power and less oil or gas. Oil and gas also cost much more to purchase than you can receive for selling your electricity. You can therefore cut the cost of running your heating by an enormous amount, as well as consuming less oil or gas and thus helping the environment.

Application example
A day in the life of the SMA Home Energy Solution for your home and integrated heat pump
06:30
It is early morning and the sun is already shining. Your PV system initially supplies the heat pump with solar power so that you have enough heat and hot water.
12:00
The sun continues to shine. Throughout the entire day, solar power directly from your roof is prioritized for powering electrical appliances, such as cookers, lights and computers.
14:30
By the early afternoon, your PV system is generating more power than you need. A proportion of this surplus solar power is stored in the battery.
20:30
The rest is used for operating your heat pump. But not all the heat generated is currently required, which is why the heat is stored temporarily in a thermal storage system.
