A 40 MW PV power plant in Rajasthan, India, equipped with 43 SMA Sunny Central 800CP inverters has gone into operation. The Nagaur PV power project by the Indian solar power producer Azure Power is one of the largest PV power plants in India so far.
For the extremely dry and hot climate in Nagaur with frequent sandstorms in summer, large temperature variations and highly irregular rainfall the Sunny Central 800CP inverters with their robust outdoor enclosure and with the intelligent OptiCool cooling concept are perfectly suited. Together with First Solar modules the inverters are running a full load of nearly 880 kW at times of peak irradiation during the day. The plant will be instrumental in offsetting about 66,000 metric tons of CO2 per year and hence would help contribute to climate change mitigation.
