In this role, the Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing service support related to Solar Inverters at large Photovoltaic Power Plant Solution sites.
The Service Engineer will do commissioning of SMA inverters, conduct troubleshooting of service related issues at customer sites, and provide hands-on support for maintenance & repair activities.
The candidate will work in close cooperation with the local Service Manager and the Headquarters’ (HQ) Service division and provide on-site as well as telephonic technical services to customers at solar project sites.
This position will be based out of the SMA India Office in Ahmedabad.
- Provides independent commissioning, maintenance and repair of solar inverters for large scale PV plants
- Supports customers over the phone so that issues relating to single and three-phase solar inverters for photovoltaic plants can be resolved remotely
- Handles spare parts for changing out the individual inverter components and organizes the related logistics
- Trains our customers’ on-site technical personnel
- Records all issues in SAP CRM documentation and provides regular reporting to the Service
- Manager and to the HQ Service division
- Needs to work actively to meet SMA Service Standards promised to customers
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Requires a Diploma/Degree in Electrical or Electronics or allied disciplines.
- Has at least three years of experience in professional customer service and in the installation, repair or maintenance of electrical plants or other installations in the field of power electronics
- Ideally has a very good working knowledge of high voltage equipment
- Should be well aware of Occupational Health and Safety regulations related to HV equipment
- Must be proficient using MS Office and SAP
- A basic understanding of IP network technology would be advantageous
- Is willing to undergo extensive travel to customer sites
- Has very good skills in written & spoken English
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with customers in a positive and professional manner as well as be able to work effectively and independently
